one word [myth]

(ref: here)

As the sun beat down, kissing the the mountain with unfettered intensity, John climbed the hill.

One hand hold here, one reaching-pull move there, and John continued mastering the slope.

Halfway up the slope, his sweat-drenched glove used to wipe his face again, John though to himself about the question his brother had asked.

"When does historical record become myth," James had asked, "Is it possible that a contemporary event could ever be considered mythical?"

As the sun beat down upon John's brow, the question seemed irrelevant and potent at the same time.

Looking up, John noted movement fifty feet above his current position; the rock wall hid the source but he knew his brother was ahead.

Smiling, John sped up his actions; taking the similar precautions as before, John literally lept from spot to spot, scaling the remainder of the wall quickly.

As John silently approached his brother, he considered again the question.

Climbing onto the top of the hill from the top of the wall, John saw a small outcropping of large rocks.

As John made his way onto the top of the hill, another motion from between the rocks drew his attention.

A strange, large, white, furry creature, at least ten feet tall, was looking at John quietly.

Shocked and not wanting to scare the creature, John moved slowly toward the edge, away from where he'd climbed and away from the strange creature.

The creature eyed John warily, and the moment John made it to the edge, it moved back between the large rocks.

"I'm curious where James is," thought John, as he tried to look non-offensive to the creature.

The moment John's attention move away from the creature, it moved with surprising speed in front of the rocks, away from John.

As John turned back to where the creature had been standing, it made it to the same part of the cliff from which John had climbed.

Seeing the creature but not able to focus on it, John followed it with his eyes; the moment John's eyes got to the edge, the creature had vanished.

Walking quickly to the edge, John looked down. The mist that John had climbed through below obscured his vision; the creature was nowhere to be seen.
