snowflake metaphor

They say no two snowflakes are alike; that a droplet of frozen water makes a path unique in all of space and time  Snowflakes make good metaphors for people.

It occurred to me today that light, although not often thought comprised of particles, might be said to be distinct in a similar way.  Particles or waves of light also travel in a path unique in all of space and time; light, too, is fascinating in that it is the most visible invisible item in the world - only being visible if in contact with something else.

I suspect that no two rainbows are alike.
