They called them Millie's Lions, "Millions" for short, as if by simply re-branding them they would make them friendly.
Millie was renown for raising cats into an odd mix of purely feral beasts and the sweetest little fur babies you'd ever seen.
For those who Millie disliked (or who, for whatever reason, disliked Millie) they were reliably feral.
For everyone else they were adorable.
Each was named after both a color
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen, half of the eight largest millions, roamed the yard near her house.
No rodent dared grace Millie's lawn.
Prancer, herself, once dug half a mile underground in search of a single groundhog.
Down at the local bar, any rodent worth their salt would only shake their head and ignore any reporter who asked after Prancer.
Word on the street was that Millie was feeding them strange wafers, was using alien technology, was using cybernetics.
Nobody realized the real reason they protected Millie:
They were telepathic clones.
Yes, boring; yes, droll - but they protected Millie like a mother because they were all in sync.
